5/25/2019 0 Comments Tone Studio For Boss Katana 50 MacSo I have a Katana 100 and I'm trying to that Tone Studio thing to work. I'm normally pretty computer savvy but I'm stumped at this point to what to do. I USED to have this working at one time. But then day I go to use Tone Studio and it doesn't pick up the Katana from the USB. So I try reinstalling the drivers. Well turns out every time you uninstall the drivers you have to restart your computer which is very annoying. I do everything the instructions tell me and when it gets time to plug the Katana in and turn it on I get this little gem that Windows tells me 'Device Driver Software was not successfully installed' The installation window gives me no other choices to click but cancel and then it tells me I have to uninstall the drivers and start ALL OVER AGAIN. And OF COURSE I have to restart the laptop. I'm not plugging it into USB 3.0 I'm using 2.0 as well as trying the installation on different ports. Failure, uninstall, restart. Now I see why many people don't bother with the tone studio thing. You gotta be an NSA codebreaker to get it to work Anywho. I'm completely at a loss at this point. One thing you can try is plugging in the unti, openign Device MAnager and finding the device in the HW Tree. BOSS TONE CENTRAL is a library service offering additional contents for BOSS products. By simply launching the dedicated BOSS TONE STUDIO application and connecting to the internet, you can download any of the free contents from our growing collection. Use BOSS TONE STUDIO for KATANA Version 2 as a set with KATANA series version 2. Then look to so if it has a driver associated with it. Remove the driver if there's one there and then add a driver and select the driver manually by pointing to it specifically ( I know this works when you use 'add a device' you can point to the file as an option but I think you can do this under HW Manager as well. ![]() Can't double check here at work though, we are restricted from doing much in Control Panel as Desktop users! Downloaded the Sneaky Amps and Floorboard from above. Wife is away for the week so only the dog will have to tolerate my noise experiments. Screenshots from my laptop after install. Hook up the Kat later and see what happens. ***Update Played with both the amps and floorboard for a quick half hour. The amps were very easy to switch between and sounded great. This should satisfy the crowd that's used to picking a certain name like 'Twin' on similiar amps as a starting point. The floorboard worked for the most part. Not sure if I'm a fan vs.
Will revisit on a rainy night. A few on other forums have mentioned that the Katana is getting a Boss GT-100 makeover with the downloads. Not bad considering that it's a $499 floor multifx unit that can now be put in amp that starts at $199. To recap IMHO the Sneaky Amps is easily worth the install. Click to expand.I agree from the factory is all most will ever need. The default tones are far better than others 'presets'. More organic, less processed. The Sneaky Amps patch is nice to have but I'm more than happy the way it shipped. Guys on another forum wanted more options than its EL34 platform and much like the Blackstar ID series that allows tube sims it's now available. At home the.5 watt setting is plenty loud for me. Clean or crunch 75% of the time with a Blues Driver, some verb and a touch of delay and I'm good for the night.
